Nature lovers may be acquainted with the wildlife photographer, Allan D. Cruickshank. This man played a key role in the establishment of Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. The Cruickshank Trail begins along the Black Point Wildlife Drive at stop number 8, and like all trails within the refuge, offers excellent birding. The trail is an easy five-mile loop through a shallow marsh. The trail does offer one of the refuge's best observation sites including a photography blind.
