Jackson's Gap Trail begins near the main visitor center and serves as a connector with Cone's Dike Trail and Chacala Trail. The trail offers a shady 1.3-mile hike through pine flatwoods and hardwood hammock. The trail is named after Archie L. Jackson, a 19th century cattle ranger who moved cattle through a gap in the fence near Chacala Pond. Abundant wildlife is enjoyed including sights of sandhill crane, alligators, egrets, and herons. Be sure to keep an eye out for wild horse and bison grazing in the marsh. Mountain biking this trail is permitted.
