La Chua Trail is a 3-mile footpath beginning near the North Rim Interpretive Building. This was once the site of a 20th century bunkhouse until the state acquired the property in the 1970s. Those interested in viewing the extensive prairie and marsh habitat up close should hike this trail. The preserve's rich bio-diversity is reflected in 750 kinds of plants and 400 species of vertebrates.
