Located near Pahoa on Hwy 132 in the area of Puna and the nearby coast. The park preserves the tree molds created when molten lava hardened around a tree and burned the inside out leaving the "mold".

The tree molds here formed in a 1790 fire when a lava flow overran an ohia wood forest. Admission to this lunar landscape is free and it is open 24 hours.
