Located along an old stage route between
Galena and
Beardstown, Argyle Lake State Park is home to rough terrain, beaver dams, and more than 200 bird species. The 1,700-acre park, which includes the 93-acre Argyle Lake, is about 5 miles west of
Macomb and 2 miles north of
Colchester.
