Beaver Dam State Park

Named for beavers whose dam-building formed the lake more than a century ago, Beaver Dam State Park south of Carlinville isn't home to the industrious rodents today. However, white squirrels are seen periodicallly within the park's boundaries. They are not albinos but are just a type of gray squirrel.
