Heidecke Lake

This 2,000-acre lake is next to Goose Lake Prarie State Natural Area in Grundy County, about 50 miles southwest of Chicago. It is actually the cooling pond for Midwest Generatings Collins Station.

Despite this, the state-managed lake offers fishing and hunting. A small-craft boat launch is on site for those purposes. Boat rentals are available through the concession stand.

The nearest large town is Morris, with a population of about 12,000.
