Morgan City is located in St. Mary Parish within the Cajun Country Region south of Baton Rouge, between New Iberia and Houma along US Highway 90 on the banks of the Atchafalaya River near Franklin, Patterson, and Gibson. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 13,671, a decrease of 860 since 1990.
