Highway 36

Oregon State Highway 36 is an important rural Lane County byway connecting the Oregon Coast Range Mountains, to the Willamette Valley. Merging with Highway 126 at Mapleton, this 2-lane mountain highway follows the Siuslaw River northeast into the Siuslaw National Forest and toward the rural hamlet of Swisshome. Just north of Triangle Lake, the highway turns east meeting Highway 99 two miles south of Junction City.

Should you pass this way, be sure to have cameras ready for surprise encounters with the local wildlife. There have been 48 Bigfoot sightings in Lane County alone.
