Bonnie Doone Plantation |
Bonnie Doone Plantation is located on a 131-acre rice farm on the historic Ashepoo River near Walterboro, South Carolina. It is owned and operated by Charleston Baptist Association. Facilities include an elegant 12-bedroom mansion, a large six-bedroom cottage, a new chapel that seats up to 100 people, total cabin capacity of 95 people, picnic facilities, an olympic size swimming pool, canoes and paddle boats. The original Bonnie Doone Plantation house, built in Georgian style, was burned by Sherman's troops in 1865, but rice was grown on the plantation until 1911. The current 32-room 1931 mansion was used as Rhett Butler's estate in the television series Scarlett.
