The Colleton Museum is housed in the "Old Jail," the two story neo-Gothic structure resembling a castle. The jail is situated overlooking a main thoroughfare. The jail was built in 1855-56 of brick from the old Courthouse. Remodeled in 1937, a side porch was removed, the walls were stuccoed and painted, and rooms added to the back. The "Old Jail" annex is also home to the Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce and various other County offices.
The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
