John Mark Verdier House Museum |
This home was built in 1805 by a prominent Beaufort merchant. The home is a wonderful example of Federal architecture and is full of furnishings from the same period. This Federal-style home was taken over by Union officers as their headquarters during the Civil War. Earlier, in 1825, the Marquis de Lafayette was a houseguest here.
The home is open to visitors Monday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
