McCrory Gardens and SD ArboretumAn All-American Display Garden |
The gardens, unique in the nation for their extensive variety of ornamental plants, are part of South Dakota State University's teaching and research facility. The 20-acre formal display gardens feature selected rose varieties, a rock garden, a children's maze, 10,000 flowering annuals and 2000 perennials in several specialty gardens. The 45-acre arboretum, designated as the South Dakota State Aroboretum in 1988, features ornamental trees and shrubs; the site makes long-term evaluations of species which may be successfully grown in the Northern Plains region.
Open dawn to dusk, admission is free to the public.
