The museum has exhibits about the history of ranching and farming on the South Dakota prairie. A collection of antique farming, ranching and household items features a restored 1915 steam-driven tractor; historic photographs interpret life in rural South Dakota. Other highlights include an original 1880s homesteader's stake cabin and a restored 1915 Neo Classical-style farmhouse with changing period displays that focus on the kitchen area. Special winter exhibits feature changing topics of interest. The museum offers a variety of public programs that include fiberworks demonstrations, and a lecture series; a South Dakota history library is available. Group tours are offered by reservation. Admission is free. Closed on holidays.
