Lake Whitney State Park |
Lake Whitney State Park is located on Lake Whitney near the ruins of Towash, an early Texas settlement inundated by the lake. Towash Village was named for the chief of the Hanai Indians, who moved into the area in 1835. The park is located west of Hillsboro in Hill County.
Activities at the lake include camping, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, nature study and excellent birding.
