Barrow Alaska

Barrow is the northernmost community in the United States, located between Wainwright and Prudhoe Bay near the shore of the Arctic Ocean.

Barrow has an Arctic climate, with a miniumum temperature below freezing 324 days of the year. Barrow is one of the world's largest Eskimo settlements with a native population of over 63 percent. The city is also one of the top five birding spots in Alaska.

Barrow was named for Sir John Barrow, 2nd Secretary of the British Admiralty. Traditional marine mammal hunts and other subsistence practices are an active part of the culture today.
