Deadhorse Alaska

Deadhorse is located in North Slope Borough at the end of the Dalton Hwy. This town is named after the construction company that built it to support oil drilling and production in the area. Most of the modular pre-fab buildings sit on gravel footings on top of the tundra.

Deadhorse is known as the land base for Prudoe Bay offshore oil drilling. There is scheduled jet service to Fairbanks, Anchorage and Barrow. Air taxi service in outlying villages is available. Public access beyond Deadhorse is limited. Tours of Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic Ocean are available from Arctic Caribou Inn.
