Nikiski Alaska

Nikiski is located in Kenai Peninsula Borough 9 miles north of Kenai off the Sterling Hwy. The town, also known as Port Nikiski and Nikishka, developed when oil was discovered on the Kenai Peninsula.

Commercial fishing is still important, but oil drilling and related industries are central to the economy. The population is around 5,000 today.

The main recreation interest is Nikiski Pool, an indoor warm water pool and recreation complex.
