This road runs 143 miles from Seward Hwy to Homer and is open all year. It begins 90 miles south of Anchorage at the junction with Seward Hwy at Tern Lake. It travels west and south to Homer.
It joins several Kenai Peninsula side roads, including Skilak Lake Loop Rd, Swanson River Rd, Kenai Spur Hwy, Kalifornsky Beach Rd, Cohoe Loop Rd and Anchor River Rd. It passes through the Chugach National Forest and Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.
It provides access to the Resurrection Pass Trail System south of Soldotna on the Cook Inlet.
