Ugashik Lakes |
Upper and Lower Ugashik Lakes are divided by a thin strip of land called Ugashik Narrows. Both lakes are around 75 square miles, and are located in the Alaska Peninsula Nat'l Wildlife Refuge.
Archaeological findings near the Ugashik Lakes tell us that people lived there as long as 9,000 years ago.
The world's largest grayling come out of the Ugashik lakes, along with significant numbers of sockeye and silver salmon, char, Dolly Varden, lake trout, and more. The area attracts a great number of brown bear.
