Capitol Gorge Trail

Search Torrey Utah

Hikers will enjoy the almost two mile round-trip that winds between two sheer walled cliffs; the cliff walls provide shade in the mornings and late afternoons. Visitors will find the "Pioneer Register" along this trail, a rock face that features the names and dates of early settlers carved into the wall in the late 1800s. An interesting feature farther up the gorge is an area known as the "tanks;" early residents of this area used to bathe in the basin-like depressions when they were filled with rainwater. The trail is located within Capitol Reef National Park.
