Online Highways Home > Oregon > Albany City Map with Features Linn County Located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon The county seat of Linn County, Oregon, is Albany. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 105,337, an increase of 14,110 over the 1990 census. Linn county was established is December of 1847. Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, encompassing nearly 2,300 square miles. Although this is still very large, when first established the county was huge, extending from the Santiam River on the north all the way to the California border. Interstate 5 runs north-south through the county. Highway 20 connects the county with Corvallis and the Oregon Coast to the west, and runs through Lebanon and Sweet Home on its way east over the Cascades. Linn County is well known for its covered bridges and other mementos of its pioneer past, which are also evident in its small communities like Scio and Brownsville.
