Search Charlotte Amalie

A staircase `street` built by the Danes in the 1700s leads up

to the residential area above Charlotte Amalie and Blackbeard's

Castle Hotel. The castle's tower, built in 1679, was once used by

the notorious pirate Edward Teach. Today, this lookout is at

the center of a small hotel. If you count the stairs as you

go up, you'll discover, as have thousands before you, there

are more than 99!
