Creek county is located in east central Oklahoma southwest of Tulsawith Sapulpa serving as the county seat.
Major waterways and recreation areas include the Cimarron River in the northwest section, Lake Keystone State Park located on an arm of Keystone Lake in the north central section and Heyburn Lake north-northeast of Bristow in the central county area. In addition, a portion of the Deep Fork of the Canadian River wanders in and out of the southern portion of the county.
Old Route 66 (and Interstate 44) cross the center of the county in a southwesterly direction. Other historically significant sites in the county include the Wheeler No. 1 Oil Well near Drumright; Bridge No. 18 at Rock Creek near Sapulpa and the Sapulpa Downtown Historic District.
